Ingredients

Scale

For the Beef Filling:

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef

  • ½ small onion, finely chopped

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp chili powder (optional, for a kick)

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite melting cheese)

For the Bites:

  • 1 package (about 15) mini pastry shells or wonton wrappers

  • Cooking spray or melted butter (for brushing/wrapping)

  • Fresh parsley or chives, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Cook the Beef Filling:
In a skillet over medium heat, sauté chopped onion until softened (about 3–4 minutes). Add ground beef, garlic powder, chili powder (if using), salt, and pepper. Cook, breaking up the meat, until browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat, return to heat, then stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  • Assemble the Bites:
Preheat oven to 375 °F (190 °C). If using pastry shells, place them on a baking sheet. For wonton wrappers, lightly brush with oil or butter and press into mini muffin tin to form cups.
Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the cheesy beef mixture into each shell or wrapper cup.

  • Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes, until the pastry is golden and the filling is hot and bubbly.

  • Garnish & Serve:
Remove from oven and garnish with chopped parsley or chives. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Mini puff pastry shells save time and still deliver great texture.

  • Mix in cooked bacon bits, jalapeños, or diced bell peppers for extra flavor.

  • Great with dipping sauces like sour cream, salsa, or guacamole.

  • Store leftovers in the fridge (airtight) for up to 3 days and reheat in the oven until warmed.
