Ingredients

Scale

For the Ground Beef:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp chili flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

For the Creamy Hot Honey Feta Sauce:

  • 1 cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp cream cheese
  • 2 tbsp hot honey (or honey + chili flakes)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

For the Flatbread & Toppings:

  • 4 flatbreads or naan
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/2 cucumber, diced
  • 1/4 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup olives, sliced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Sauté Onion and Garlic: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add finely chopped onion and cook until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  2. Cook Ground Beef: Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, about 7-8 minutes.
  3. Season Beef: Sprinkle paprika, cumin, dried oregano, chili flakes (if using), salt, and black pepper over the beef. Mix well and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to let the flavors meld. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. Prepare Feta Sauce: In a blender or mixing bowl, combine crumbled feta cheese, Greek yogurt, cream cheese, hot honey, lemon juice, and minced garlic. Blend or whisk until smooth, creamy, and well combined.
  5. Warm Flatbreads: Warm the flatbreads or naan in a pan or oven for a few minutes until they are soft and slightly toasted.
  6. Assemble Flatbreads: Spread a generous layer of the creamy hot honey feta sauce evenly over each warm flatbread.
  7. Add Ground Beef: Distribute the seasoned ground beef evenly on top of the sauce layer on each flatbread.
  8. Top with Fresh Veggies and Herbs: Scatter halved cherry tomatoes, diced cucumber, thinly sliced red onion, sliced olives, and chopped parsley over the beef.
  9. Finish with Olive Oil and Extra Honey: Drizzle each flatbread with a bit of olive oil and additional hot honey if desired to enhance the flavor.

Notes

  • You can substitute flatbread with naan or pita for different textures.
  • Adjust chili flakes according to your spice preference.
  • For a vegetarian version, replace ground beef with spiced cooked lentils or a plant-based meat substitute.
  • Leftover sauce can be refrigerated for up to 3 days.
  • Serve with a side salad or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
