Ingredients

Scale

Fruit and Seasoning

  • 4 ripe but firm pears, halved and cored
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt

Cheese and Nuts

  • 4 oz (115 g) brie cheese, sliced
  • 1/3 cup walnuts, roughly chopped

Sweeteners and Extras

  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
  • Optional garnish: Fresh thyme leaves or rosemary
  • Optional: Extra honey for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare a baking dish by lining it with parchment paper or lightly greasing it to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare the Pears: Arrange the pear halves cut-side up in the baking dish. Brush them lightly with lemon juice to prevent browning, then drizzle with olive oil or melted butter to enhance flavor and aid baking.
  3. Season: Sprinkle the pears evenly with cinnamon and a pinch of salt to add warmth and balance the sweetness.
  4. Fill the Pears: Place slices of brie cheese into the hollow center of each pear half. Top with roughly chopped walnuts and dried cranberries to add texture and tanginess.
  5. Bake: Bake the pears uncovered in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the pears are tender and the brie has melted into a creamy topping.
  6. Finish & Serve: Remove from the oven and drizzle the warm pears with honey. Garnish with fresh thyme leaves or rosemary, if desired. Serve warm as an elegant dessert or appetizer.

Notes

  • Choose ripe but firm pears like Bosc or Anjou for best results that hold their shape during baking.
  • Substitute brie with camembert or a soft goat cheese for a variation in flavor.
  • For a vegan version, replace brie with a plant-based cheese and use maple syrup instead of honey.
  • Use walnuts toasted lightly for enhanced nuttiness.
  • Leftover pears can be refrigerated and gently reheated before serving.
