Donut Batter:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup buttermilk (or milk + 1/2 tbsp vinegar)
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup rainbow sprinkles
Vanilla Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Extra sprinkles for decorating
- Preheat & Prepare: Preheat oven to 190°C / 375°F. Grease a donut pan well or use non-stick spray.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until combined.
- Combine & Add Sprinkles: Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients. Mix gently until just combined. Fold in sprinkles carefully—don’t overmix or sprinkles will bleed color.
- Fill Donut Pan: Spoon or pipe batter into donut pan cavities about 3/4 full.
- Bake: Bake for 10–12 minutes until lightly golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Glaze & Decorate: Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make a smooth glaze. Dip tops of warm donuts into glaze, then sprinkle generously with more rainbow sprinkles.
- Cool & Serve: Let donuts cool on a wire rack so glaze sets. Serve fresh and celebrate!
