Ingredients

Scale

Salmon

  • 4 salmon fillets (6 oz / 170 g each)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Lemon wedges, for serving
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Cajun Honey Butter

  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cajun honey butter: In a small bowl, combine softened butter, honey, Cajun seasoning, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated and form a smooth, flavorful butter blend.
  2. Preheat the oven or skillet: For the oven method, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). For the skillet method, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking.
  3. Cook the salmon: For oven cooking, place salmon fillets skin-side down on a lined baking sheet. Evenly spread the Cajun honey butter over the top of each fillet. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily when tested with a fork. For the skillet method, sear the salmon fillets skin-side down in the hot skillet for 4 to 5 minutes. Flip the fillets and cook for an additional 3 to 4 minutes. Then, top each fillet with the Cajun honey butter and allow it to melt over the warm salmon.
  4. Serve: Transfer the cooked salmon fillets to plates. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley and lemon wedges for added brightness and flavor. Serve alongside your choice of rice, roasted vegetables, or a fresh salad for a balanced meal.

Notes

  • You can adjust the amount of Cajun seasoning to match your preferred spice level.
  • For crispier skin, pat the salmon dry before cooking in the skillet.
  • If using the oven method, lining the baking sheet with parchment paper or foil helps with easy cleanup.
  • Leftover Cajun honey butter can be stored in the refrigerator and used to enhance other seafood or chicken dishes.
  • This recipe can be adapted for grilling; simply cook the salmon on a preheated grill and top with the honey butter before serving.
