Ingredients

Scale

For the Donut Dough

  • 2 ½ cups (300g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • ¼ cup (50g) sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • ¾ cup (180ml) warm milk
  • 1 large egg

For the Chocolate Glaze

  • 150g dark or milk chocolate, chopped
  • ½ cup (120ml) heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter

Toppings

  • Crushed nuts, crispy chocolate pearls, cookie crumbs, or mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Make the Dough Mix warm milk and yeast, let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add melted butter, egg, and yeast mixture. Knead until smooth and elastic (about 10 minutes by hand or 5 minutes with a mixer). Cover and let rise for 1–1.5 hours, until doubled in size.
  2. Shape and Fry Roll dough to about 1.5 cm thick. Cut out donuts with a round cutter (with a hole in the center). Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment, cover, and let rise again for 30 minutes. Heat oil to 170–175°C (340°F). Fry donuts 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  3. Make the Glaze Heat heavy cream until just simmering. Pour over chopped chocolate and butter. Stir until smooth and glossy.
  4. Glaze and Decorate Dip the top of each donut into the chocolate glaze. Sprinkle with toppings of your choice while the glaze is still wet. Let set for 5–10 minutes before serving.
