Indulge in the classic Italian dessert with this authentic Tiramisu recipe. Layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and creamy mascarpone cheese, dusted with cocoa powder, make this dessert a timeless favorite.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cream:

  • 4 large egg yolks
  • ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream (cold)
  • 1 cup (225 g) mascarpone cheese (room temp)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Coffee Soak:

  • 1 ½ cups strong espresso or coffee (cooled)
  • 2 tbsp coffee liqueur (Kahlúa or Marsala wine, optional)

For Assembly:

  • 2430 ladyfinger biscuits (Savoiardi)
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder (for dusting)
  • Dark chocolate shavings or coffee beans (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Make the Cream – Whisk egg yolks + sugar over a double boiler for 5–7 minutes until pale and thick. Let cool. Whip heavy cream to stiff peaks. In another bowl, beat mascarpone + vanilla until smooth. Gently fold mascarpone into yolk mixture, then fold in whipped cream until silky.
  2. Prepare Coffee Soak – Mix cooled espresso with liqueur (if using). Pour into a shallow dish.
  3. Assemble the Tiramisu – Quickly dip ladyfingers (don’t soak too long) into coffee mixture and layer them in a rectangular dish. Spread half of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers. Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining cream. Smooth the top and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight.
  4. Serve – Dust generously with cocoa powder. Garnish with chocolate shavings, coffee beans, or mint leaves.
