These Cranberry Brie Mini Tarts with Pistachio Crunch are elegant bite-sized appetizers perfect for holiday gatherings or special occasions. Featuring flaky puff pastry filled with creamy Brie cheese and tart cranberry, topped with a crunchy pistachio and sugar sprinkle, these tarts balance savory, sweet, and nutty flavors beautifully.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Mini Tarts:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 oz (115g) Brie cheese, cut into small cubes
  • ½ cup cranberry sauce or whole cranberries
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

For the Pistachio Crunch:

  • ¼ cup pistachios, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Pinch of salt

Optional Garnish:

  • Fresh thyme leaves
  • Drizzle of honey

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and for easier cleanup.
  2. Prepare the Puff Pastry: Cut the thawed puff pastry sheet into 12 equal squares, then arrange them neatly on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Assemble the Tarts: Place a small cube of Brie cheese in the center of each puff pastry square. Add about a teaspoon of cranberry sauce or a few whole cranberries atop the Brie for a burst of tartness.
  4. Add Egg Wash & Pistachios: Using a pastry brush, gently brush the edges of each puff pastry square with the beaten egg to help them brown and seal. Sprinkle each tart generously with the chopped pistachios, sugar, and a pinch of salt to create a crunchy, sweet topping.
  5. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the puff pastry is well risen, golden brown, and the Brie cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Garnish & Serve: Let the tarts cool slightly on the baking sheet. Before serving, optionally garnish with fresh thyme leaves and drizzle with honey for added aromatic sweetness. Serve warm as delightful appetizers or snacks.

Notes

  • For best results, ensure the puff pastry is fully thawed but still cold before cutting to prevent sticking and tearing.
  • Use full-fat Brie cheese for a creamier texture and richer flavor.
  • If fresh cranberries are used instead of cranberry sauce, add a bit of sugar to balance the tartness.
  • The egg wash not only enhances browning but also helps pistachios adhere to the pastry edges.
  • These tarts are best enjoyed warm but can be served at room temperature as well.
