For the Sauce:

  • ½ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • ¼ cup beef broth (or water)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar (or honey) 🍯
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch (mixed with 2 tbsp water for slurry)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar (optional for brightness)
  • ½ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

Instructions

  1. Make the Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, sesame oil, and rice vinegar. Set aside.
  2. Cook the Beef: Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add sliced beef and sear for 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. Cook Broccoli: Add remaining oil to the pan. Toss in broccoli, garlic, and ginger. Stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until the broccoli is bright green and slightly tender.
  4. Combine: Return the beef to the pan. Pour the sauce over and stir. Add the cornstarch slurry, cooking for 1–2 minutes until the sauce is thickened.
  5. Serve: Serve the stir fry hot over steamed rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds or green onions. 🌱
