Ingredients

Scale

Cake Batter

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Ganache & Toppings

  • 1 cup white chocolate ganache
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate ganache
  • 1/2 cup whipped cream
  • 68 chocolate truffles for decoration
  • 1/4 cup white chocolate shards

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and lightly flour a cake pan to prevent the cake from sticking.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder to ensure they are evenly combined.
  3. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a separate large bowl, use an electric mixer to cream the softened unsalted butter and sugar together until the mixture is smooth and fluffy.
  4. Add Eggs and Flavor: Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry mixture. Mix until just combined.
  5. Divide and Flavor Batter: Split the batter evenly into two bowls. Gently fold the white chocolate ganache into one half and the dark chocolate ganache into the other, creating two distinct flavored batters.
  6. Create Marble Effect and Bake: Spoon alternating dollops of the white and dark chocolate batters into the prepared cake pan. Use a skewer or knife to gently swirl the two batters together for a marbled effect. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool the Cake: Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack and cool completely.
  8. Decorate: Once cooled, frost the cake with a smooth layer of mixed white and dark chocolate ganache in a marble pattern. Pipe whipped cream decoratively around the top edge of the cake.
  9. Garnish and Chill: Arrange chocolate truffles and scatter white chocolate shards on top of the whipped cream. Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to set before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure all ingredients, especially butter and eggs, are at room temperature for better mixing.
  • When swirling the batters, avoid overmixing to maintain distinct marble patterns.
  • You can prepare the ganaches a day ahead and store them in the refrigerator.
  • Store the cake refrigerated and consume within 3 days for optimal freshness.
  • Allow the cake to come to room temperature before serving for the best flavor and texture.
