Cake Batter
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Ganache & Toppings
- 1 cup white chocolate ganache
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate ganache
- 1/2 cup whipped cream
- 6–8 chocolate truffles for decoration
- 1/4 cup white chocolate shards
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and lightly flour a cake pan to prevent the cake from sticking.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder to ensure they are evenly combined.
- Cream Butter and Sugar: In a separate large bowl, use an electric mixer to cream the softened unsalted butter and sugar together until the mixture is smooth and fluffy.
- Add Eggs and Flavor: Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry mixture. Mix until just combined.
- Divide and Flavor Batter: Split the batter evenly into two bowls. Gently fold the white chocolate ganache into one half and the dark chocolate ganache into the other, creating two distinct flavored batters.
- Create Marble Effect and Bake: Spoon alternating dollops of the white and dark chocolate batters into the prepared cake pan. Use a skewer or knife to gently swirl the two batters together for a marbled effect. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool the Cake: Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack and cool completely.
- Decorate: Once cooled, frost the cake with a smooth layer of mixed white and dark chocolate ganache in a marble pattern. Pipe whipped cream decoratively around the top edge of the cake.
- Garnish and Chill: Arrange chocolate truffles and scatter white chocolate shards on top of the whipped cream. Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to set before serving.
Notes
- Ensure all ingredients, especially butter and eggs, are at room temperature for better mixing.
- When swirling the batters, avoid overmixing to maintain distinct marble patterns.
- You can prepare the ganaches a day ahead and store them in the refrigerator.
- Store the cake refrigerated and consume within 3 days for optimal freshness.
- Allow the cake to come to room temperature before serving for the best flavor and texture.
