Ingredients

Scale

For the Sirloin

  • 1 lb (450g) sirloin steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

For the Stir-Fry Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon chili flakes (optional for heat)

For the Vegetables

  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup snap peas
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Garnish

  • Sesame seeds
  • Fresh cilantro or parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Sirloin: In a bowl, toss the sirloin slices with soy sauce, cornstarch, and black pepper. Let it sit for 10–15 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate while you prepare the vegetables and stir-fry sauce.
  2. Prepare the Stir-Fry Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced ginger, minced garlic, and chili flakes if using. Set aside.
  3. Cook the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the marinated sirloin in a single layer and sear for 2–3 minutes per side until the beef is browned and caramelized. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Stir-Fry the Vegetables: Add the remaining tablespoon of oil to the same skillet. Stir-fry the broccoli florets, sliced red bell pepper, and snap peas for 3–4 minutes, tossing frequently until they are bright in color and crisp-tender.
  5. Combine: Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the vegetables, pour in the prepared honey-ginger sauce, and toss everything together for 1–2 minutes until well coated and heated through. Stir in the sliced green onions gently.
  6. Serve: Transfer the stir-fry to a serving dish and garnish with sesame seeds and fresh cilantro or parsley if desired. Serve hot over steamed rice, noodles, or quinoa for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Slice the sirloin thinly against the grain for maximum tenderness.
  • Adjust chili flakes to your heat preference or omit for a milder dish.
  • Use vegetable or any neutral oil with a high smoke point for stir-frying.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • For a gluten-free option, use tamari instead of soy sauce.
  • Add a sprinkle of toasted sesame oil at the end for extra flavor if desired.
