Ingredients

Scale

For the Beef:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon

For the Creamy Feta Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/3 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 small garlic clove, minced
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste

For Assembling:

  • 4 large pita breads or flatbreads
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced cucumber
  • 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/4 cup thinly sliced red onion

Instructions

  1. Cook the beef: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add ground beef along with dried oregano, ground cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 6 to 8 minutes, breaking up the meat with a spatula, until browned and cooked through. Stir in lemon juice and remove from heat.
  2. Make the creamy feta sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together Greek yogurt, crumbled feta cheese, olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, and salt and pepper to taste until smooth and well combined.
  3. Warm the pitas: Heat pita breads in a dry skillet for about 30 to 60 seconds per side or warm them in the oven for a few minutes until soft and pliable.
  4. Assemble wraps: Spread a generous spoonful of the creamy feta sauce down the center of each warm pita. Layer on the cooked beef, shredded lettuce, diced cucumber, cherry tomatoes, and thinly sliced red onion.
  5. Wrap & serve: Fold the pita tightly into a wrap and serve immediately. Optionally, drizzle extra creamy feta sauce over the top for added flavor.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground lamb for the beef to make it more authentically Greek.
  • Make sure to use full-fat Greek yogurt for a creamier, richer sauce.
  • Warm the pitas properly to prevent cracking when folding.
  • Feel free to add other toppings like olives or tzatziki for variation.
  • This recipe is best enjoyed fresh but can be wrapped tightly and refrigerated for up to 1 day.
