Ingredients

Scale

Beef Filling

  • 1 pound beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Tzatziki Sauce

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cucumber, grated and excess water squeezed out
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill or mint
  • Salt to taste

Wraps

  • 46 pita breads or flatbreads
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the thinly sliced beef with olive oil, minced garlic, dried oregano, ground cumin, paprika, black pepper, salt, and fresh lemon juice. Toss everything well to coat the beef evenly and let it marinate for 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  2. Cook the Beef: Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef and cook for 4–6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beef is browned and cooked through. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Tzatziki Sauce: In a mixing bowl, combine Greek yogurt, grated cucumber (with excess water squeezed out), finely minced garlic, olive oil, fresh lemon juice, chopped fresh dill or mint, and salt. Mix until smooth and well blended. Chill the sauce in the refrigerator until ready to use.
  4. Warm the Pita Breads: Lightly warm the pita breads in a pan or oven to make them soft and pliable for wrapping.
  5. Assemble the Wraps: Spread a generous layer of the chilled tzatziki sauce on each warmed pita bread. Top with cooked beef, shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, and thinly sliced red onion.
  6. Serve: Roll up the wraps tightly and serve immediately for a fresh, flavorful meal.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a splash of red wine vinegar to the marinade.
  • Use flatbreads if pita bread is unavailable; they work just as well for wraps.
  • To make it gluten-free, substitute pita bread with gluten-free flatbreads or large lettuce leaves.
  • For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the beef marinade.
  • Store leftover beef and tzatziki sauce separately in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
