Ingredients

Scale

For the Beef Filling

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For the Dill Garlic Feta Spread

  • ½ cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Greek yogurt
  • 1 small garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Pinch of black pepper

For the Wraps

  • 4 large flatbreads or pita breads
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cucumber, thinly sliced
  • ½ small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup fresh arugula or romaine lettuce

Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until fragrant and translucent, about 3–4 minutes. Add the ground beef along with oregano, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Cook the beef until browned and fully cooked, breaking it into small pieces with a spatula. Once cooked, remove the skillet from heat.
  2. Prepare the Dill Garlic Feta Spread: In a small bowl, combine the crumbled feta cheese, Greek yogurt, minced garlic, chopped fresh dill, lemon juice, and a pinch of black pepper. Mix thoroughly until the spread is smooth and creamy in texture.
  3. Warm the Flatbreads: Gently heat the flatbreads or pita breads in a dry skillet or oven for 1–2 minutes until they become pliable and warm, making them easier to roll.
  4. Assemble the Wraps: Spread a generous layer of the dill garlic feta spread onto each warmed flatbread. Add an even portion of the cooked beef filling on top. Layer with halved cherry tomatoes, thinly sliced cucumber, red onion slices, and fresh arugula or romaine lettuce for a refreshing crunch.
  5. Roll and Serve: Fold the sides of the flatbread inwards and roll the wrap tightly to secure all the fillings. Serve immediately while warm for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground beef with ground lamb for a richer, more traditional Greek flavor.
  • For a lighter option, use lean ground beef or turkey.
  • If fresh dill is unavailable, dried dill can be used, but use about half the amount as dried herbs are more concentrated.
  • Flatbreads or pita breads can be warmed in a microwave wrapped in a damp cloth if short on time.
  • Add a drizzle of tzatziki sauce or a squeeze of fresh lemon juice for extra zest.
  • Wraps can be prepared ahead of time but are best enjoyed fresh to prevent sogginess.
