For the Beef Filling
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Wraps
- 4 large pita breads or wraps
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced
For the Minted Feta Sauce
- 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1/3 cup feta cheese, crumbled
- 1 tbsp fresh mint, chopped
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Cook the Beef: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef, garlic powder, dried oregano, ground cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the beef is browned and fully cooked through, about 6–8 minutes.
- Prepare Minted Feta Sauce: In a small bowl, combine Greek yogurt, crumbled feta cheese, chopped fresh mint, lemon juice, olive oil, and salt and pepper. Mix until smooth and well blended.
- Warm the Pita Breads: Heat the pita breads in a dry skillet or microwave until soft and pliable, making them easier to fold without cracking.
- Assemble the Wraps: Lay out each warmed pita bread and layer with shredded lettuce, halved cherry tomatoes, thinly sliced red onion, and the cooked beef mixture.
- Add the Sauce and Serve: Drizzle a generous amount of minted feta sauce over the fillings, fold the wraps tightly, and serve immediately while warm.
Notes
- For a lighter option, substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken.
- To make it spicier, add a pinch of chili flakes to the beef while cooking.
- Fresh mint can be replaced with dried mint if fresh is unavailable, but reduce the quantity to 1 teaspoon.
- These wraps can be prepared in advance—store components separately and assemble before serving.
- Use gluten-free wraps or lettuce leaves instead of pita bread for a gluten-free variation.
