Ingredients

Scale

For the Greek Beef:

  • 500 g (1 lb) ground beef
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1½ tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp ground cumin
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

For the Yogurt Feta Sauce:

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 120 g (4 oz) feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 small garlic clove, grated
  • Black pepper, to taste

For Serving:

  • 4 pita breads or flatbreads
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Sliced red onion
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Fresh parsley or dill

Instructions

  1. Cook the beef: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the ground beef along with dried oregano, paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Cook, breaking up the meat with a spoon, until the beef is browned and cooked through.
  2. Make yogurt feta sauce: In a bowl or food processor, combine Greek yogurt, crumbled feta cheese, olive oil, lemon juice, grated garlic, and black pepper. Blend or mix until smooth and creamy.
  3. Warm pitas: Lightly warm the pita breads in a dry pan or oven until they are soft and pliable.
  4. Assemble wraps: Fill each warmed pita with a portion of the seasoned beef, sliced tomatoes, red onion, shredded lettuce, and spoonfuls of the yogurt feta sauce.
  5. Serve: Garnish the wraps with fresh parsley or dill and serve immediately for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, use lean ground beef or substitute with ground turkey.
  • You can add cucumbers or olives for extra Mediterranean flavor.
  • The yogurt feta sauce can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 2 days.
  • Warm the pitas briefly just before assembling to keep them soft and warm.
  • Adjust seasoning in the beef mixture to suit your taste preference.
