Ingredients

Scale

For the Greek Grilled Chicken

  • 1 lb (450 g) boneless skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced (halal)
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp ground cumin
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

For the Tzatziki Sauce

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • ½ large cucumber, grated and excess liquid squeezed out
  • 1 clove garlic, finely minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill or mint, finely chopped

For the Wraps

  • 46 soft pita breads or flatbreads
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Thinly sliced red onion
  • Crumbled feta cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Marinade: In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, dried oregano, paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper until combined.
  2. Marinate Chicken: Add the thinly sliced chicken breasts to the marinade and toss to coat evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 8 hours for deeper flavor infusion.
  3. Preheat Grill: Heat a grill pan or outdoor grill to medium-high heat, ensuring it is hot before cooking.
  4. Grill Chicken: Place the marinated chicken slices on the grill and cook for 4–5 minutes on each side, until they are golden brown, slightly charred, and fully cooked through. Remove from grill and let the chicken rest briefly.
  5. Make Tzatziki Sauce: In a bowl, combine Greek yogurt, grated cucumber (with excess liquid squeezed out), finely minced garlic, olive oil, fresh lemon juice, salt, and chopped dill or mint. Stir well and chill until ready to serve.
  6. Warm Pita Bread: Lightly warm the pita breads on the grill or in a pan to make them soft and pliable.
  7. Assemble Wraps: Lay warm pita bread flat and layer with grilled chicken, shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and thinly sliced red onion. Spoon a generous amount of tzatziki sauce on top.
  8. Add Optional Feta: Sprinkle crumbled feta cheese over the filling if desired for extra flavor.
  9. Serve: Wrap the pita tightly around the filling and serve warm for a delicious, fresh meal.

Notes

  • Marinate the chicken longer for a deeper, more robust flavor.
  • If you prefer a spicier wrap, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the marinade.
  • Use fresh herbs like mint or dill in the tzatziki for the best taste.
  • To make the wraps gluten-free, substitute the pita bread with gluten-free flatbreads.
  • Leftover grilled chicken can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days and used in salads or sandwiches.
