Ingredients

Scale

For the Lemon Beef

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef or thinly sliced beef
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

For the Creamy Dill Feta Sauce

  • ½ cup crumbled feta cheese
  • ⅓ cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 12 tablespoons warm water (to thin as needed)
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

For Assembly

  • 4 soft pita breads
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • ½ cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • ½ cup diced cucumber
  • ¼ cup thinly sliced red onion
  • Fresh parsley or dill for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the Lemon Beef: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the ground beef along with lemon juice, lemon zest, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 6–8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beef is fully cooked and lightly caramelized. Remove from heat.
  2. Make the Creamy Dill Feta Sauce: In a small bowl, combine crumbled feta cheese, plain Greek yogurt, chopped fresh dill, lemon juice, lemon zest, and black pepper. Mix until smooth and creamy. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of warm water gradually to reach a drizzle-friendly consistency.
  3. Warm the Pitas: Heat pita breads in a dry skillet or in the oven until they are soft and pliable, ready to be filled.
  4. Assemble the Wraps: Spread a generous layer of the creamy dill feta sauce inside each warm pita. Top with the cooked lemon beef, shredded lettuce, cherry tomatoes, diced cucumber, and thinly sliced red onion.
  5. Serve: Fold the pita wraps and serve immediately. Garnish with extra fresh dill or parsley for added flavor and freshness.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground beef with thinly sliced beef for variation in texture.
  • Adjust the thickness of the feta sauce by adding more or less warm water according to your preference.
  • For a spicier version, add a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes to the beef while cooking.
  • Make sure to warm the pita so it becomes pliable and easier to fold without tearing.
  • Use fresh herbs whenever possible to elevate the flavors of the sauce and garnish.
