There’s nothing quite like the smell of freshly baked cinnamon rolls to make your home feel warm and inviting, perfect for cozying up with loved ones. These Heavenly Cinnamon Rolls are soft, fluffy, and layered with a rich cinnamon-brown sugar filling, topped with a smooth vanilla glaze that adds just the right touch of sweetness.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • 3¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet instant yeast (about 2¼ teaspoons)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup warm milk (about 110°F)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Filling

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: Combine the all-purpose flour, instant yeast, granulated sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl. In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough: Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, approximately 1 hour.
  3. Prepare the filling: While the dough is rising, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a small bowl until fully combined.
  4. Shape the rolls: Once risen, roll the dough out into a rectangle about 15×9 inches. Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough. Roll up tightly from one long side to the other to form a log. Cut the log into 12 equal slices.
  5. Second rise: Place the rolls into a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise again for about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Bake: Bake the cinnamon rolls for 20-25 minutes until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Make the glaze: Whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Drizzle generously over the warm rolls once slightly cooled.

Notes

  • Make sure your milk is not too hot when mixing the dough to avoid killing the yeast.
  • For a richer flavor, you can add a pinch of nutmeg to the filling.
  • If you prefer a thicker glaze, reduce the amount of milk slightly.
  • The rolls can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerated for up to a week.
  • Reheat gently in the microwave or oven before serving to restore softness.
