Instructions

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, active dry yeast, granulated sugar, and salt. Stir well to evenly distribute all the dry ingredients.
  2. Add Wet Ingredients and Knead: Pour melted butter and warm milk into the dry mixture. Stir until a dough forms, then transfer to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until the dough is smooth, elastic, and no longer sticky.
  3. First Rise: Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a clean towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm, draft-free area for 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
  4. Prepare the Dough for Shaping: Once risen, punch down the dough to release excess air. Roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangular shape roughly 12×18 inches. Evenly spread softened butter over the surface and sprinkle 3 tablespoons of sesame seeds atop the butter.
  5. Shape the Buns: Roll the dough tightly from one long edge to the other to form a log. Slice the roll into 10-12 even buns and place them cut-side up on a greased baking tray, ensuring some space between each bun for expansion.
  6. Apply Egg Wash and Additional Seeds: Beat the egg lightly and brush it generously over the buns’ surface. Sprinkle extra sesame seeds on top to enhance the nutty flavor and create a beautiful golden crust during baking.
