Ingredients

Scale

Ground Chicken Filling

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp coriander
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Vegetables & Bread

  • 4 pita breads
  • 1/2 cup hummus
  • 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, diced
  • 1/2 cup cucumber, diced
  • 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup shredded lettuce
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Hot Honey Feta Cream

  • 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp hot honey
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the Ground Chicken: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground chicken, breaking it apart as it cooks, until fully browned and cooked through.
  2. Season the Chicken: Sprinkle in paprika, cumin, coriander, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes to develop flavors. Finish by adding lemon juice, then remove from heat.
  3. Prepare Hot Honey Feta Cream: In a bowl, blend crumbled feta, Greek yogurt, hot honey, lemon juice, minced garlic, and black pepper until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
  4. Warm the Pitas: Heat pita breads in a dry skillet or oven until soft and pliable, making them easier to fold and fill.
  5. Assemble the Pitas: Spread a generous layer of hummus inside each warm pita. Add the cooked ground chicken, then top with diced cherry tomatoes, cucumber, thinly sliced red onion, shredded lettuce, and chopped parsley.
  6. Finish and Serve: Drizzle a generous amount of hot honey feta cream over the filling. Wrap or fold the pitas and serve immediately while warm.

Notes

  • For extra spice, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the chicken seasoning or the feta cream.
  • Warm the pita breads just before assembling to keep them soft and prevent cracking.
  • You can substitute ground turkey or lamb for the chicken if preferred.
  • Adjust hot honey quantity to taste for milder or spicier cream.
  • Leftover hot honey feta cream can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
