This Matcha Tiramisu is a delightful fusion dessert that combines the traditional Italian tiramisu with the vibrant and earthy flavors of Japanese matcha. Featuring layers of matcha-infused ladyfingers and a creamy mascarpone filling, it’s dusted with matcha powder for an elegant finish. Perfect for matcha lovers seeking a unique twist on a classic favorite.

Ingredients

Scale

Matcha Syrup

  • 2 tablespoons matcha powder
  • ¼ cup hot water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar

Mascarpone Filling

  • 8 oz (225 g) mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Assembly

  • 2430 ladyfinger cookies
  • Additional matcha powder, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Make the Matcha Syrup: In a small bowl, whisk together the matcha powder, hot water, and sugar until the mixture is smooth and fully combined. Let the syrup cool slightly to avoid making the ladyfingers soggy during dipping.
  2. Prepare the Mascarpone Filling: In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. In a separate bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated without deflating the whipped cream.
  3. Assemble the Tiramisu: Quickly dip each ladyfinger cookie into the matcha syrup, making sure not to soak them thoroughly to prevent sogginess. Arrange a layer of dipped ladyfingers in your serving dish. Spread half of the mascarpone filling evenly over the layer. Repeat the process with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and top with the remaining mascarpone filling.
  4. Chill: Cover the assembled tiramisu with plastic wrap and refrigerate it for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to set properly.
  5. Serve: Before serving, dust the top generously with additional matcha powder for an attractive finish and an extra burst of matcha flavor.

Notes

  • Ensure the ladyfingers are only quickly dipped to avoid a soggy dessert.
  • Chilling overnight enhances the flavor and texture of the tiramisu.
  • Use good quality matcha powder for the best taste and vibrant color.
  • This dessert can be made a day ahead, making it perfect for entertaining.
  • For a lighter version, substitute heavy cream with whipped coconut cream (vegan option).
