Ingredients

Scale

For the Beef

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

For the Pitas

  • 4 pita breads

Fresh Toppings

  • 1 cup lettuce, shredded
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • ½ cup cucumber, diced
  • ¼ red onion, thinly sliced

For the Hot Honey Feta Cream

  • ¾ cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • ¼ cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • ¼ tsp chili flakes

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil: Place a skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
  2. Sauté garlic: Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant, taking care not to burn it.
  3. Cook the ground beef: Add 1 pound of ground beef along with dried oregano, paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 6 to 7 minutes, stirring and breaking up the meat until browned and fully cooked through.
  4. Prepare the hot honey feta cream: In a blender or food processor, combine crumbled feta cheese, Greek yogurt, olive oil, honey, and chili flakes. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  5. Warm the pita breads: Heat the pita breads in a clean skillet for 1–2 minutes until warm and pliable.
  6. Assemble the pitas: Fill each warm pita bread with the cooked beef, shredded lettuce, halved cherry tomatoes, diced cucumber, and thinly sliced red onion.
  7. Drizzle with sauce: Generously drizzle the hot honey feta cream over the fillings inside each pita.
  8. Serve immediately: Enjoy these flavorful Mediterranean ground beef pitas while fresh and warm.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground lamb for beef for a more traditional Mediterranean flavor.
  • For extra heat, increase the chili flakes in the hot honey feta cream.
  • Serve with a side of tzatziki or your favorite Mediterranean dip for added zest.
  • Use whole wheat pita breads to increase fiber content and nutritional value.
  • Store any leftover hot honey feta cream in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
