- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and black pepper to taste
For the Pita Wraps
- 4 whole wheat pita breads
- 1 cup chopped lettuce or mixed greens
- 1 medium tomato, diced
- ½ small cucumber, diced
- ¼ cup red onion, thinly sliced
- ½ cup crumbled feta cheese
For the Herbed Yogurt Sauce
- ½ cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley or dill
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Cook the Ground Beef: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef, garlic powder, cumin, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Cook for 6–8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until beef is fully cooked and lightly browned.
- Prepare the Herbed Yogurt Sauce: In a small bowl, combine Greek yogurt, lemon juice, minced garlic, parsley or dill, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth and well blended.
- Assemble the Pita Wraps: Cut pita breads in half to form pockets. Fill each pita with chopped lettuce, diced tomato, cucumber, red onion, and cooked ground beef. Drizzle with herbed yogurt sauce and sprinkle with crumbled feta cheese.
- Serve: Serve immediately while warm for best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Use lean ground beef (90% lean or higher) for a healthier option.
- Substitute chicken or turkey for ground beef if preferred.
- Fresh herbs like mint or cilantro can be added to the yogurt sauce for extra flavor.
- Warm the pita breads slightly before assembling to make them more pliable.
- Store any leftovers separately to prevent the pita from becoming soggy.
