4.8 from 5 reviews

Mini Tawa Pizzas are quick and easy individual-sized pizzas made on a stovetop griddle. Using simple ingredients like tortillas or small pizza bases, these mini pizzas are topped with rich tomato sauce, melted mozzarella cheese, and fresh vegetables, then cooked to perfection on a tawa or skillet. Perfect for a snack, appetizer, or light meal, they’re a fun way to enjoy homemade pizza without an oven.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Base:

  • 4 small whole wheat or regular flour tortillas (or small pizza bases)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (optional)

For the Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce (or marinara sauce)
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp red chili flakes (optional)

For the Toppings:

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup sliced onions
  • 1/4 cup sliced bell peppers
  • 1/4 cup sliced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup black olives (optional)
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Base: Heat a tawa or large skillet over medium heat. Lightly brush the tortillas or small pizza bases with olive oil if you want extra crispiness. Place them on the hot tawa and cook each side for 1 to 2 minutes until lightly crisped. Remove and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the pizza sauce with dried oregano, garlic powder, and red chili flakes if using. Stir well and adjust seasoning to your taste.
  3. Assemble the Mini Pizzas: Spread a thin, even layer of the prepared pizza sauce over each tortilla or pizza base. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top, followed by sliced onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, and black olives if using. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Cook the Mini Pizzas: Place the assembled mini pizzas back onto the tawa. Cover with a lid and cook on low heat for 5 to 7 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and is bubbly. You may need to cook in batches depending on your tawa size.
  5. Serve: Carefully remove the mini pizzas from the tawa. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired. Serve immediately while hot and enjoy your quick stovetop mini pizzas!

Notes

  • You can use whole wheat or regular flour tortillas depending on your preference.
  • Adjust toppings as per your taste or dietary restrictions.
  • If you don’t have a lid for your tawa, use a large baking sheet or another upside-down pan to cover while cooking.
  • For a crispier base, lightly brush olive oil on tortillas before toasting.
  • Store any leftover pizzas refrigerated and consume within 2 days for best taste.
