Cake:

  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 ¼ cups (250g) granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup (120ml) fresh orange juice
  • 1 tbsp orange zest (from about 2 oranges)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Glaze:

  • ½ cup (60g) powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp fresh orange juice

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter and sugar: Mix the butter and sugar until pale and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in the orange zest and vanilla extract.
  2. Combine dry and wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Add to the wet mixture alternating with orange juice, mixing until just combined.
  3. Bake: Pour batter into a greased pan and bake at 175°C (350°F) for 50–60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. Cool and glaze: Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a rack. Mix powdered sugar and orange juice for the glaze, then drizzle over the cake.
