Delight your guests with these easy-to-make Pear, Cheddar & Pecan Crostini, a perfect appetizer combining the sweetness of ripe pears, the sharpness of white cheddar, and the crunch of toasted pecans, all drizzled with honey and garnished with fresh thyme for an elegant touch.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crostini:

  • 1 baguette, sliced into ½-inch pieces
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Toppings:

  • 2 ripe pears, thinly sliced
  • 1 cups sharp white cheddar, shredded or thinly sliced
  • ½ cup pecans, roughly chopped and lightly toasted
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • Fresh thyme leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep the bread: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly brush each baguette slice with olive oil and place them on a baking sheet. Bake for 6–8 minutes, or until the slices turn lightly golden and crisp.
  2. Add cheddar: Remove the toasted baguette slices from the oven. Top each slice generously with shredded or thinly sliced sharp white cheddar. Return the tray to the oven and bake for an additional 2–3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  3. Add pears: Carefully place thin slices of ripe pear over the melted cheddar on each crostini, ensuring even distribution of the fruit for the perfect sweet contrast.
  4. Finish the crostini: Sprinkle the toasted pecans over the pear layers to add a satisfying crunch. Drizzle each crostini lightly with honey to enhance the sweetness, and optionally, garnish with fresh thyme leaves for a fragrant, herbaceous note.
  5. Serve: Serve the crostini warm or at room temperature. They make an excellent appetizer or party bite that’s sure to impress your guests with their blend of flavors and textures.

Notes

  • Aged Gouda or Manchego cheeses can be used as delicious alternatives to sharp white cheddar.
  • For a spicy twist, drizzle hot honey instead of regular honey.
  • You can prepare the toasted bread and toppings ahead of time; assemble just before serving for maximum freshness.
