Ingredients

Scale

For the Brownies:

  • 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (200g) light brown sugar
  • 1 cup (230g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 cup (120g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp salt

For the Salted Caramel:

  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 6 tbsp (90g) unsalted butter, cut into cubes
  • ½ cup (120ml) heavy cream, warmed
  • ½ tsp sea salt (plus extra for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line a 9×13-inch (23x33cm) baking pan. To make the caramel:
    • Melt sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally until it turns amber.
    • Add butter and stir until melted. Slowly pour in warm cream, whisking constantly until smooth.
    • Stir in ½ tsp sea salt and set aside to cool slightly.
  2. For the brownie batter:
    • Whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
    • Sift in cocoa powder, flour, and salt, and fold gently until just combined.
    • Pour half the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
    • Drizzle half the caramel over it. Add the remaining batter on top, then drizzle the rest of the caramel.
    • Swirl gently with a knife for a marbled effect.
    • Bake for 30–35 minutes, until the edges are set but the center is slightly soft (it will firm as it cools).
    • Sprinkle with extra sea salt and allow to cool completely before slicing.
    • Slice, Serve and Enjoy
