Truffle Base
- 7 oz white chocolate, chopped
- 1/3 cup heavy cream
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup shredded coconut
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Coating
- Extra shredded coconut for coating
- Melt chocolate: In a saucepan, gently heat the heavy cream and unsalted butter over low heat until warm but not boiling. Pour the warm mixture over the chopped white chocolate in a heatproof bowl and stir continuously until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth and glossy.
- Add coconut & vanilla: Stir in the shredded coconut and vanilla extract thoroughly to combine evenly and infuse aroma and texture into the truffle mixture.
- Chill: Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for 1 to 2 hours until it becomes firm enough to handle when shaping into truffles.
- Shape truffles: Using a spoon or small cookie scoop, take portions of the chilled mixture and roll them gently between your palms to form smooth, bite-sized balls. Then, roll each ball in extra shredded coconut to coat evenly.
- Set & serve: Place the coated truffles on a lined tray and refrigerate for an additional 30 minutes to set completely. Serve chilled and enjoy the creamy, tropical flavors.
Notes
- Ensure the cream does not boil to avoid curdling the chocolate.
- For a firmer texture, chill the mixture longer before shaping.
- Store truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- For a nutty twist, consider adding finely chopped toasted nuts inside the truffle mixture.
